Virgin StartUp

Here at MumsClub, we generally love anything Branson. As the original high profile entrepreneur, he has inspired millions and with the superstar brand awareness that Virgin have built they’ve been able to actively support the start up of more entrepreneurs.

Virgin Media have the Virgin Media Pioneers and their fantastic Ambassadors network who have made great waves in reaching more young business owners, and now they’ve launched Virgin Start up that provides advice, training and start up loans and, they’re currently on tour!

“2014 will be a year of many big ideas, because it will be the year of the entrepreneur.”

Sir Richard Branson

Virgin StartUp (VSU) is the latest addition to the Virgin family, a not-for-profit company, set up to offer business advice, training and start-up loans to budding entrepreneurs. Over the next 5 years, they are aiming to support at least 8,000 loan recipients, starting around 7,000 new businesses. VSU is a national delivery partner of the Start-Up Loans Company, the body set up by the Government to administer the £322m Start-Up Loans Scheme.

More than just business finance

VSU are well aware that finance alone is not enough to make a real difference to our entrepreneurs – they see their role as something a little bit more than that.

They are:

  • Working with thousands of inspirational business leaders from all walks of life, each of whom will volunteer to mentor one of their entrepreneurs in person, on a regular basis;
  • Using the power of the Virgin brand to promote their entrepreneur’s work and secure much needed early sales;
  • Working in partnership with selected organisations, in order to enhance this offer;
  • Offering a range of discounted products and services to help entrepreneurs to reduce their start-up cost;
