Parentspiration: Sir Chris Hoy launches search for Britain’s most inspiring parents
Britain’s greatest ever Olympian Sir Chris Hoy has today (13 October 2014) launched the search for the country’s most inspirational parent. The cycling star has teamed up with Britain’s No 1 bottled water brand Highland Spring for the Parentspiration campaign which aims to recognise parents and guardians who have gone above and beyond to help their children in achieve their dreams or overcome challenges.
Chris himself has often credited the support and encouragement of his dad as playing a key role in his amazing career. Many parents will know the feeling of shuttling their offspring to sports practice and cheering them on from the sidelines. Highland Spring’s Parentspiration campaign has been launched to give inspirational and supportive parents the pat on the back they deserve. The winner and their family will get to meet Chris as well as enjoying a fantastic family break.
Members of the public can nominate their own parent or guardian or someone else’s who they believe deserves the title of the nation’s most inspirational parent – whether it’s early morning rises to get to swimming practice, advice and support to help start a business or make a dream come true or even unconditional love to get over life’s challenges.
The shortlisted entries will be announced on 10 November and a public vote will decide the ultimate winner of the Parentspiration award.
Sir Chris said: “From a very young age my dad has been instrumental in my cycling career, I really wouldn’t be where I am today without his support. There are parents all over Britain doing amazing things for their children every day, very often quietly behind the scenes. We are launching the Highland Spring Parentspiration campaign to celebrate these unsung heroes and recognise the fact that behind every great sporting star, business person and success story, there’s a great parent!”
