Orchard Toys’ exciting new range!

Orchard Toys have been around of so long, and have found their way into thousands if not millions of homes worldwide, after all they do export to over 40 countries worldwide. So we were delighted to hear of their launch of six exciting new lines, as well as a brand new range!

Orchard-Toys-colouringAlready award winning, you might wonder where a brand like Orchard Toys can go from here, well they’ve first, they’ve extended their much-loved characters and illustrations into a range of six wonderful colouring activity books for children of different ages. With education in mind, the books help teach younger children about numbers, letters and first words, but also cater for older children with activities such as word searches and crosswords.

We gave two members of our review panel a choice of the new range to test out for us, here’s their reviews.

Where Do I Live?Orchard-toys-where-do-I-live

Where Do I Live? s a fun animals of the world lotto that teaches children about animals and their habitats across the globe, suitable for ages 3-6. Double-sided boards feature interesting animal and habitat facts to encourage educational discussion and learning.

Review by Chiara Stone, mum of two; ages 7 and 3.

We have always been big fans of Orchard Games in our house, so were delighted to have the chance to review Wild World Lotto. Our children are 7 and 3, we often play board games and it can be difficult to find games which are entertaining for both age groups and not too difficult for my youngest to understand.

Orchard-toys-chiara-reviewFor Christmas my daughter who is nearly 4 now picked out two orchard games to buy with her Christmas money, she chose the Shopping List game and Pizza, Pizza. We like the educational element to the games, the Shopping list game helps with memory recognition and the pizza game with colours and shapes.

She loved them so much we played the over and over again and we had been struggling to find games that she would find both fun and engaging. So when Where Do I Live? arrived there was much excitement in our house and we sat down to play it straight away.

The game consists of four Lotto boards each from a different part of the world, under the sea, the dessert etc. On the back of each board is some factual information about each of the habitats which my son read out to his younger sister.

We then had animal tokens for each board as well as exporers to go with each habitat.   All of the pieces had to be turned face down on the table, we then had to take it in turns to turn over a piece and see if the animal matched our habitiat, once you had all your animals you had to find your explorer. The first person to locate all their animals and their explorer was the winner.

I particularly liked the fact that this game helped with memory recognition and also it helped to teach my daughter about some of the more exotic animals and where they came from.

Both of  my children enjoyed playing the game and it is definitely one I would recommend.

The Woodland Party Puzzle

Woodland Party is a beautiful and colourful 70- piece jigsaw, depicting an enchanted woodland with lots of cheerful children and animal characters. Once the jigsaw is complete, parents can use the talkabout guide on the back of the box to encourage discussion and imagination.
Review by Suzy Oliver, mum of one.
Orchard-Toys-woodland-partyMy little girl absolutely loved doing this puzzle. The picture is so detailed, that she didn’t stop talking the whole time she was completing it. There are so many interesting characters, actions and interactions between the animals and children, that my little one ended up creating a whole story about all the characters. The talkabout guide on the box is really helpful, though my little one didn’t require any encouragement to let her imagination run away with her and create lovely stories about all the animals.
This is so much more than your ordinary puzzle. It allowed my daughter to enjoy the complexity of a detailed puzzle, create imaginative stories and even role-play based on all the characters she could see.
