We all want to buy our kids fabulous presents don’t we, but in reality I think they mostly just love opening presents!

So our Christmas gift guides have  reflected all that we feel is needed, from the wow factor gifts to the delightful stocking fillers to lighten up every child’s face so we hope you have found them useful.

The one item that stuck out for us was a book for children. “Lady Davina Dove – A Christmas Story”  is a wonderful traditional story set in a manor house, with miniature animals being the characters, both upstairs family members and downstairs staff; giving the readers subtle lessons in life with charming observations, along with beautiful illustrations, drawn by the author herself.

We also particularly love the background to the writer; Jani Tully Chaplin wrote this series of stories over 25 years ago but it wasn’t until a chance meeting with a publisher in 2011 that they went to print. Furthermore, Jani’s husband’s distant relative was instrumental in publishing his good friend Beatrix Potter’s work after she was rejected by every other publisher she approached. It really is the Downton Abbey for children, and the perfect stocking filler for any toddler, or youngster.

We actually decided to put it in with the baby gifts because it’s something that both parent and child can enjoy together. But it makes a fabulous stocking filler for both boys and girls alike and with it’s likeness to Downton Abbey – the programme we all adore, it’s just so topical and gives us a great Downton fix until the new episode is aired at Christmas!

We love this and wish we’d had it when we were kids. What was your favourite book as a child?
