How To Get Organised For Christmas 2015… NOW!

As much as the scrooge in us hates it and the big kid in us loves it, Christmas seems to start earlier and earlier every year. The shops are stacked with Christmas food, decorations and trees before we have even purchased our witches hat for Halloween.

But, despite this, most of us don’t want to contemplate Christmas until we have opened the first door on our advent calendar and even that is too early for some. However, whether we like it or not, thinking about and preparing for Christmas ahead of December will save much of the stress and panic that comes with leaving everything until the last few weeks.

It may only be October, but the weeks will fly by and before we know it we will be wearing jumpers adorned with Santa, singing along to, “All I want for Christmas”, and decorating everything in sight with tinsel.

So you can actually sit back and enjoy the holidays this year, here is how you can get organised for Christmas 2015 right NOW!

Start buying your presents

Make like Father Christmas and create a list (don’t forget to check it twice!) of everyone you need to buy a gift for, then alongside that start jotting down ideas of what you might want to get them. It is never too early to start buying (and wrapping) presents – this not only allows you the time to shop around and find the best price, it also enables you to budget how much you spend.

The research couldn’t be easier now we can use the internet to start window shopping – we can even buy all our presents without setting foot in the shop – from a subscription through Magazine Direct, to a Red Letter Day experience or clothes from most retailers. However, if you are purchasing your gifts via the internet it is even more important to do it in advance as the time it takes for it to arrive will get longer the closer it gets to Christmas. And no one wants to explain why Father Christmas is going to be late delivering presents this year!

Stock up on food…

Navigating busy supermarkets can be a nightmare at the best of times, but the scenes at Christmas are something else! Dedicate a cupboard and a drawer in the freezer to food that will keep until December. You will really appreciate not being one of the stressed shoppers fighting for the last turkey when all you need to pop in and pick up is your fresh food!

… and drink

You will get through countless bottles of drink over Christmas. Take advantage of drinks offers when they arise in the months leading up to the festive period and you will save yourself a lot of money!

Christmas Decorations
Instead of tutting that Christmas decorations are in the shop in October as you walk straight past, take advantage of this! Start buying your decorations while the shops are still fully stocked, rather than leaving it till the last minute when you might just be stuck with the leftovers.

Christmas is the most expensive time of year, so by being organised you won’t only save yourself the stress that December brings, it will enable you to budget and spread the cost across several months.
