Our Day at The Scarecrow’s Wedding

Our Day at The Scarecrow’s Wedding

Our Day at The Scarecrow’s Wedding Leicester Square Theatre, London I’m delighted to have had the chance to review the Scamp Theatre’s big-stage adaptation of author Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s children’s bestseller The Scarecrows’ Wedding. This came at a perfect time as it was just before my eldest son Shea’s 8th Birthday. As both of my sons have started their own little project of writing a book Shea & Rory’s Story’s this opportunity could not have been a better birthday treat. We all found this to be...

Virgin Experience Days Indoor Skydiving review

Indoor Skydiving with Airkix from Virgin Experience Days Whoosh what an exhilarating experience! That would be my overall summary of the exciting experience my son and I took part in at Airkix in Milton Keynes. We went indoor skydiving with Virgin Experience Days. I hadn’t previously heard about this activity, but was very excited to find out more. We got lots of information in advance with our tickets including advice about wearing comfortable casual clothing, lace up trainers and no jewellery.  We also had to answer health questions and...

An (almost) Easter epic fail

An (almost) Easter epic fail

Easter 2016 AKA the Easter of an almost epic #Mummyfail This Easter, my son who’s 10, asked me if we could do something new over Easter, and by ‘new’ he meant going abroad. We had a pretty cool cruise a couple of years back for my biggie birthday which involved a short plane trip but as a rule, I’m really no fan of flying. I flew to Chicago a month after 9/11 back in 2001 – determined not to let terrorists rule my life but I have to admit it was borderline frightening, and really the aborted landing into a blizzard-ridden O’Hare airport...

ZFrame suitcase review

ZFrame suitcase review This Easter our reviewer had a failed attempt at a holiday to visit the sunnier climes of Tenerife. Take a look here to see how it was almost the Easter of failure and how a trip to Cornwall saved the day! The great old English sunshine was the new destination and accomodating any season a week in Cornwall may throw, these ZFrame suitcases came in real handy, here’s how. Boldly advertised as “very very light but seriously strong”  I was interested to put these little beauties to the test, in fact I saw it as a...

Gin festival review

The Manchester Gin Festival was set in the Victoria Baths to the south of the city centre, which you may have seen on TV or in the papers about the campaign to save it – it truly is a wonderful building and it is a great place to hold a stylish event like this.  We arrived about 7pm and were greeted by a friendly lady who explained how it worked – we were given a large gin glass with a badge, a pen and a Gin Book which contained details of the 100 plus gins on offer. Given the baffling array of gins on offer, it was laid out really well –...

Harry Potter Studio tour review

Warner Brothers Studio Tour Review The Animal Actors special event The Warner Brothers studio tour has amazed me on both visits. The first time, being a Harry Potter fan, I was blown away with the awesomeness that is the wonderful wizarding world. On your first visit there’s so much to take in, that your brain just can’t absorb it all. But on the second visit, we were able to take in so much more. Our first visit was a normal week day, with no special event taking place. It was actually a sad time as Richard Griffiths who played Uncle Vernon...

Monkey Forest Review

Monkey Forest Review

Monkey Forest, Trentham Review. Who knew? Who knew that just outside Stoke on Trent there was a forest dedicated to the conservation of Monkeys. And not just a couple of random specimens, there really is quite a lot of them. Set in 60 acres of forest, there are 2 groups each made up of 70 Barbary Macaques who live, free to roam in this forest. Thanks to questions from my son and his friend, we learnt that Macaques live to around 24 but that the oldest here is a ripe old age of 28. The youngest is 6 months, and there’s a lot of those to watch...
